Landscape of Layers

Set on a challenging sloping site in Weybridge, this project transformed an underused and waterlogged garden into a series of interconnected outdoor spaces designed for entertaining, relaxation and family life.

The Brief

The clients struggled to use both the front and rear gardens. A four-metre retaining wall dominated the entrance, while a steep, waterlogged rear garden made much of the landscape inaccessible and underused.

Our Response

Layered planting and a calming water feature softened the arrival experience, while a series of terraces transformed the steep rear garden into distinct yet connected spaces. An outdoor kitchen, covered pergola, sunken firepit, generous lawn and secluded seating areas provide opportunities for entertaining, play and quiet retreat.

The Outcome

The garden now feels welcoming, functional and full of character. Planting transitions from naturalistic meadow edges to richly layered borders, creating interest throughout the seasons while unifying the entire landscape.

A challenging hillside transformed into a garden designed for connection, celebration and everyday enjoyment.
